The Royal Stables of Córdoba were founded in 1570 by order of Philip II who, driven by his passion for horses, launched an ambitious project: to create one of the most exceptional equine breeds in history, the Andalusian Horse — the Pura Raza Española (Spanish Purebred). What began as a simple wish of the monarch became one of the most significant and beloved projects of his reign. The Pura Raza Española, renowned for its elegance and riding ability, went on to become a prominent symbol of the Spanish empire.
Today, the horses return to their birthplace, Córdoba, the city that saw them born, through the equestrian show “Passion and Duende of the Andalusian Horse” (Pasión y Duende del Caballo Andaluz), held weekly across various sessions. This event, a true delight for the whole family, takes place in the majestic setting of the monumental Royal Stables of Córdoba.
